Our First Tennis Tournament

On Monday April 13, after many months of being stuck inside, our tennis rackets were able to leave the closet. During Christmas break, we flirted with the idea of playing, while vacationing in sunny Arizona, but with no success they were returned to the closet. Finally, with the sunshine warming the air, it was time. Driving to Provo high school tennis courts, we noticed that other people had the same idea. With no courts open, up the hill we went. Bringing our camera to capture the moments (which will shortly be posted on this blog) we staked out our court and stretched before the tournament began. There was a lot of on lookers, watching our beautiful strokes, although rusty from the winter months. Many of them asked if we played professionally, we just laughed and modestly told them it was a hobby. After a few practice rallies, it was on. It felt good to swing the old racket again, even though we lost two balls in doing so and pulled a few muscles that had been in hibernation all winter. A good start to a long season of tennis. As I woke up this morning with a lingering spring fever from the night before, I looked out the window and saw that it was no longer spring, it was back to winter. So I went back to bed with visions of tennis floating through my head. Next Monday promises to be sunny again, and we will break out the rackets and play again. THE END! Written by Chrit
